As part of my grand plan to convince the world (and myself) that living in New Jersey isn’t so bad, I am exploring restaurants, coffee shops, and other places that make the Garden State great.

Serving fresh pour-over hot coffee, unique cold brews, and specialty lattes, Catalano Coffee Company is a delicious and cozy coffee shop that makes New Jersey not so bad.
Catalano Coffee Company is located at 1016 Maple Ave., Glen Rock, in Bergen County. The coffee shop provides ample seating, making it the perfect place to read a book, craft, study, or work from "home.”
While visiting the shop, I met the owner, Dominic, who explained that each hot cup of coffee is made fresh. There are no large coffee machines or pots where coffee sits for hours until someone orders a cup. Instead, each cup is made with drip coffee by pouring water onto ground beans. This makes sure each cup of coffee is fresh and tastes the same every time a customer orders it.
This shop piqued my interest because of the flavored cold brews listed on its website. I was intrigued by flavors like coconut and mint, but had a feeling these were flavored syrups. I was wrong. Dominic explained that he created the coconut cold brew by steeping coconut macaroons into the coffee. The subtle, yet delicious taste added the perfect amount of flavor to my cold brew.

I highly recommend this amazing coffee shop that certainly makes New Jersey great. Catalano Coffee Company is open from 6:00 am to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 7:00 am to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
